THE IMPORTANCE OF DRAINAGE REMEDIES:
By Dr. Andreas Marx
Before a condition or disease fully develops, most patients will notice various symptoms. The majority of all symptoms relate directly to a decrease of circulation in the related organ system. Sluggish circulation in any organ tissue builds-up cellular waste (metabolites) in the connective tissue that surrounds the cells. This
cellular waste also hinders the absorption of nutrients.
For this reason, the first therapeutic step should always be to increase circulation, to clear the pathway to the cells. For example, patients who have a poor diet and do not exercise have sluggish circulation. Here arteriosclerotic plaque build-up is like the waste that accrues at the banks of a slow flowing river. Increased blood flow washes waste away like a fast mountain stream. A clear pathway in the connective tissue
guarantees healthy cell growth.
Throughout the centuries empirical evidence has proven that using specific medicinal herbs will increase
circulation in organs and organ systems. For example, Crataegus No. 26 (Hawthorne Extract) increases
circulation in the coronary vessels; and Aesculus No. 6 (Wild Chestnut), in the extremities. Herbs that
improve metabolic functions by increasing circulation are called “Drainage Remedies.”
A drainage remedy needs to have two main characteristics:
1. It increases circulation in a specific organ system.
2. It must be biochemically active.
Therefore, a high potency homeopathic or vibrational remedy cannot be called a drainage remedy.
Can homeopathic remedies also be used for drainage?
Yes. Low-potency homeopathics, in particular tinctures (1x), can still have enough medicinal substance to influence chemical reactions. In certain combinations they can be used as drainage remedies. Higher potency homeopathics or vibrational remedies cannot cause this biochemical effect.
One of the most essential applications for drainage remedies is before and during any therapy. When using homeopathic Nosodes and Sarcodes (SANUM, HEEL, etc.), or other therapies such as Chelation, heavy metal detox, etc., drainage remedies will also minimize a healing crisis.
For example, a “Key Nosode” is only able to alert the body’s defense to residual toxins. If the patient is very toxic and depleted, prescribing solely Nosodes and high potency homeopathics can lead to severe symptoms and toxic overloads. These overloads can cause an extreme “healing crisis” because residual toxins regress from the connective tissue into the bloodstream, many times causing unrelated and confusing symptoms. Naturopathic schools in Germany teach the first step of a therapy is to prescribe drainage remedies. This will “jump-start” the detoxing process of the organ systems directly involved with elimination and detoxification.
It is recommended that an average drainage therapy’s duration is two months. Using drainage remedies during chelation therapy is a must and will also reduce stress on the kidneys and vascular system.
The drainage formulas produced by the German company NESTMANN have evolved over the last 150 years and were used even during Hahnemann’s time. MARCO PHARMA INTL., based in Oregon, imports these original remedies direct from Germany.
